About Us

It all started when my wife Diane and I planted a one acre hobby vineyard around our Saratoga, CA home 1993. Paul Conrado a friend and wine maker looked at the vacant acre and said " You know Mike, you should plant a vineyard around your home. Its really low cost landscaping and easy to maintain. I will even buy your grapes!"

We believed Paul and planted the vineyard! To everyone's surprise we actually enjoyed the hobby, the fresh air, hard work and rewards of spending endless hours hand weeding, pruning, tying and of course spending a lot of money in the process!

In the late 1990s Mike took early retirement from Hewlett Packard after a 32 year career in Marketing and Sales. Looking for a second career, we decided to turn our passion for our vineyard into a full time business and become growers of top quality wine grapes for discriminating wineries and winemakers.

Our family spent 3 years searching for suitable vineyard property and teamed up with Larry Bradley, a viticulturist and consultant to help with the search and subsequent project.

Eventually our search led us to the Sierra foothills where ideal grape growing condition, reasonable land prices and a great living environment, convinced us to act upon our dream. We sold our property in Saratoga, and moved to our newly acquired 160 acres in Grass Valley where we settled to build a new life and grape growing business.

Mike learned a long time ago at Hewlett Packard that to succeed at any venture you have to become the very best at what you do. You have to listen to your customers and make a significant contribution to their operation and success. That is what we have set out to do at Naggiar Vineyards.

Working with Larry Bradley, we have spared no expertise or expense in establishing our vineyards. We also adhere to the most recent sustainable farming practices available in our industry. As a grower our goal is to exceed the quality and business expectations of the wineries we do business with.
